I watched this film after having been hyped up so much by the trailers and information which led me to believe this movie would be a throwback to the classics. And it DEFINITELY delivered. This movie was fantastic. The story was slow for like 15 minutes at the start, but then it picked up super quickly and felt like an og saw movie. The traps were really good and a lot of the fatalities were disturbing(especially the brain surgery trap), and use of hello zep as well was a strong throwback to the og saw fans. This movie delivers in basically everything. The only negative is that unlike the entire saw franchise, in this movie we kinda have to sympathize with john Kramer which is really interesting, but kinda leaves me feeling mis lead after the first 7 saw movies where he is simply the psychotic villain. However i still think that was an interesting approach and i feel this movie really gave us so much new information that perfectly fits into the original storyline without interrupting anything. And i guess another small thing could be that i prefer trap plot where the victims are in isolation for most of the movie as oppose to when all traps take place in one room. I prefer when characters have to progress through multiple traps in order to reach the end solution, however that’s a very minor thing that definitely did not affect my enjoyment of this movie. I cannot stress enough how happy i felt while watching this. I HIGHLY recommend watching this movie if you loved the originals. Final rating: 4.7/5 👍
