This movie was the definition of mid. The animation was superb but there was little exposition and lots of the characters had no personality. There were a few inconsistencies like Toad not having to go through the same trial as Mario to join the team. On the subject of Toad, he was definitely this movies saving grace. He was smart, funny, handsome, and brave. Princess Peaches personality changes more than my will to live at 3 AM every 6 minutes. DK was super zesty and Bowser was only lonely. Speaking of Bowser, he was probably the best character. All he wanted was someone to love. The game references were cool and the music was a great homage to the original games but it doesn't make up for the random plot points and boring writing.

The giver is a very interesting book. It has some difficult subjects such as infanticide. It's very intriguing with interesting concepts such as a world of black and white and "the capacity to see beyond" the ending is extremely disappointing and while it never gets completely resolved, we do find out what happens to Gabriel and Jonah later in the series, and eventually even Clair (gabriels birth mother) in the final book of the series. There are definitely better books out their, but if your looking for a series to get sucked into, this one isn't bad.

This movie was fantastic. I've played dnd maybe once or twice, and while I have the books and watch videos from time to time, I don't have a very good grasp on the world of dnd. The great thing about this movie is that you don't have to. Characters are lovable and funny. Only got a star off because the CGI could be a bit better and the plot was very predictable. I'm trmpted on giving the 5th star back though, because the fat dragon was cute, and the part at the end where druid lady turns into an owl near and beats the living hell out of the BBEG was funny
