Warning: Spoilers ahead
This movie was fine, I guess. It has some entertaining/funny parts, not to mention Ugly Sonic, whose addition is pretty nice. The idea of the movie (all those animated characters being actors) is quite meta and I like it. There's peril, action, and kidnapping/human trafficking (although toned down so it's still okay for kids to watch). For age, I would rate this movie 9+.
The 3D animation is fine, but the so-called "2D animation" looks worse and is actually just 3D (Roger Rabbit did 3D and 2D coexisting decades ago and it looked better). For the puppets and clay characters, they didn't use actual puppets and clay, which would've made them a lot better looking. There's also just way too many references to other movies and TV shows, almost like it heavily relies on them.
I thought the Sweet Pete thing was nice, at first, but then it just became sad when you look at Peter Pan's actual voice actor, Bobby Driscoll. Bobby acted for Disney for many years, but just like Sweet Pete, when he hit puberty, he got kicked out. Bobby became a drug addict and died of an overdose in an abandoned building. Sweet Pete being the villain of this movie because he got thrown out for something he can't control, just like Peter Pan's real voice actor, is kind of rude. I know it's probably a coincidence, but they should've looked into it more before making him the villain.
By the way, Gadget & Zipper end up together and have 42 hybrid insect-mammalian kids. It's kind of strange, in my opinion, considering that in the TV show, Gadget was fully sentient and Zipper was more of the pet of the group. I would prefer she married Chip or didn't marry at all, but that's just my biased opinion. I know some others might get really mad about it, though, which is why I mentioned this.
