Appalling adaption of Heller's satirical masterpiece. Taken as a separate drama, it portrays the grim horror of war. But Heller's book only becomes dark towards the end. The major part of it is surreal genius. Almost none of this comes across in the TV series. The Mike Nichols film, though flawed, did a far better job.
