Totally ludicrous and unbelievable, not to mention misogynistic . Even the talented and lovely Kate Blanchet can’t redeem a character who’s supposedly an award-winning documentary filmmaker who becomes a spineless victim. As for the grieving parents of the rather pathetic boy/lover?, hasn’t anyone in Great Britain heard of therapy? For who in their right mind wades into the sea fully clothed? As for Sasha Baron Cohen, he should stick to comedy. The doting husband who turns vindictive because his wife had a fling (can’t call it an affair and don’t buy nor want to spoil the denouement) twenty years ago is about as convincing as his toupee!!

One of the most brilliant, challenging and satisfying novels I’ve read in years. I’m in awe of how Mason weaves the stories, history and magic of what man has wrought on himself and the environment. Also lol humor sprinkled like spring petals throughout.
