Fantastic Beasts and how to kill them. So much has been written concerning this film and I do agree with most of the positive reviews. Eddie Redmayne and Dan Folger are charming and wonderful to watch. Spoiler Alert! As a teacher I must say that I found the violence and slaughter of the magical creatures disturbing and I believe traumatic for a young audience. It took me out of the moment and ruined the rest of the film. Also disturbing was the killing and regurgitating of the prisoners at Erkstag. The scene had some of the magic of the earlier films but ended up being gross and disgusting. Please keep these scenes in mind when letting your children watch. The pre-world war 2 story line was not inspired and reminiscent of Spielberg’s Indiana Jones without the dynamic energy and fun.
