Had high hopes for this as I loved the musical, the actual book, and the original film (starring mara wilson). This "adaptation" is definitely that, an adaptation. I would say the movie is for a much older target audience and not kids as it lacks the frolicks and frills and silliness i would commonly associate with a movie based on a Dahl book. Storyline is quite far from the book so that one i personally did not really appreciate. Anyways, still worth a watch if you're curious and want to see the difference between the versions (original, musical, and book). If i were going to let my 6 year old watch, i'd choose the original over this one - or the actual musical.
