I watched this without having seen the previous Mad Max movies, although I don’t think that was a factor in me not enjoying it. Too many things fundamentally didn’t make any sense which made it hard to suspend reality. ie How are there long stretches of well maintained roads existing in a complete and total vacuum where virtually no other infrastructure exists. These rival gangs/towns somehow exist with enough technology to have functioning vehicles and weaponry - despite living in a total desolate vacuum of a wasteland where plants are non existent - yet somehow they are surviving without any nutrients and are clueless as to how to find the mythical Green Land, despite it being a short motorbike ride away. Cabbages appear halfway through, where did they come from? All of the characters have different accents, which makes no sense. Some sound American, some English and some Australian. Everyone in each group has a different cheesy outfit with no cohesiveness. One leader has fake plastic abs armour, another had clean white clothes, one has a suit. Some people are clean shaven some are not. Furiosa’s mom has half her back burned off and is unfazed. Furiosa cuts her arm off without anyone noticing despite being guarded by dozens of men, removes a giant wheel with one arm, then suffers no blood loss and seems totally unfazed and receives no medical attention, is able to steal and race away on a motorbike with one arm.
