It had been a while since I got myself a fantasy fiction. And so I decided to get The Wrath & the Dawn for I was excited having read references made to the Arabian nights. Much like the latter, the writing is able to create a very real world and characters. Falcons, stallions, shamshirs, Emirs, healers, magic carpets. And we can very much picture them. The issue I faced was that the ages of the protagonists are 16 and 18. The romantic relationship that develops between them was hard to digest. In simple words it gave me the ick. There’s a moment where Sharzad goes: “Why won’t you touch me?”
And the boy-king goes: “If I start I won’t be able to stop”
Hmmmm
For people that might face the same, you can imagine them as much older individuals. The plot remains unaffected and you don’t miss out on this pretty decent fantasy fiction.
P.S- it could be a better fit if I were not in my mid twenties. I guess it’s alright for ages 14-20
