A very interesting read, giving an indelible insight into the people ,culture history of the island of Newfoundland in all its stark beauty and hardships. Now I know that Newfoundland too was a British colony and that many of the hopes of Newfoundland's citizens were dashed maybe forever when they became part of Canada. The graphic scene of the killings of countless seals resonate more than ever. This book has encouraged me to learn more about the island's history. A tale well told if a little lengthy with an ending for the Dorthy Parker - like journalist a little too contrived.
