Purity Day-Sharpe

This movie is great. it isn't exactly like the anime, but it's still great! The movie added more gore to the death scenes which makes it more intense. The plot stays connected throughout the movie. There isn't any side plot, and it stays focused on the main plot. It keeps you pulled in with some great death scenes. It kept most of the same details from the anime, but with more of an American spin on it.

One word. Meh. Okay, maybe not one word. But this is definitely a meh book. For one, it's wayyyy too short. I felt I needed a more in-depth explanation of the events that occurred. But maybe that's the beauty of it. I liked some of the content in the book. It had some good moments. I will admit I did not get very into it until towards the end of the book. I HATED Norah at first, but she eventually grew on me. Nick is a likeable character, however. I guess this is an opposites attract situation, personality-wise. I liked some of the book's honesty in it's writing. All in all, this is a book that needed to be way longer. It takes place all in one night, and I think this was kind of annoying, we were didn't get to witness much character growth and development as we read.

I would say this movie was better than the book. Casting is well done, editing is great, and some of the humor is pretty decent. However, if you compare it to the book, it's stupid how they changed some things to make it PG-13. They really should have let this movie be R. I did think that the movie did better at transitioning compared to the book. I liked the scenes the movie added that weren't in the book. Definitely read the book before the movie. It clears up some unexplained things throughout the movie. The movie also did pretty good at including moments from the book. Micheal Cera was perfect for playing Nick. Like my review of the book, this movie was just... meh.
