Every time I come across this book, I feel its power and know that once I have entered a few pages into Kim's world I will be trapped in its enchantment. Killing is often seen, with good reason, as an arch imperialist but the writer of My Son John and They was so much more and this book shows a love of humanity and a spiritual depth that belies the old clichéd opinions. So if you happen to pick it up don't drop it in disgust but enter a place of wonder and give yourself up to it
