The research on Community-Based Rural Tourism (CBRT) in this book focused on the economic element of CBRT's sustainability, which was nearly always overlooked in prior studies, which were more concerned with environmental and social aspects of sustainability. As a result of the three components not being adequately addressed, CBRT's long-term viability has been hampered when public or international-funded programs have concluded. In summary, this book broadened the scope of CBRT research and allowed for some economic reasoning based on quantitative rather than only depending on qualitative analysis.
