I have never been more moved by a science fiction series ever! There were moments in every episode I cried and felt as though I were a part of those 8 lives. Once again the Wachoski's have knocked it out of the park! They are so fabulous! My hat is also off to the casting agent (although it is unclear why the character "Capheus" aka "Van Damm" in season one played by Aml Ameen is replaced in season two by Toby Onwurmere, though both are great actors). Both actors along with all the cast kept the chemistry of their relationships going smoothly. I wish it hadn't ended after two seasons, but saw the wisdom of why it did. It was probably too cerebral even for mature audiences, not to mention that Netflix didn't get the ratings it hoped for, however, I'm glad they tried. I can't wait to see what the Wachoski's come up with next.
I cannot say enough good things about the production value, the writing, the directing, the acting, how they put such a complicated story together for an audience who has absolutely no clue in episodes 1 and 2 of season one about what is going on, yet make you want to know more. Maybe I'm slow, but it took me until the end of episode 2 of season one to get the gist of what is happening. Once you finally get what is going on, the conflict begins and you understand how they have to fight for what they believe in and how love, life-and-death are so intertwined in each of our own lives whether we are part of a psychic network or are alone. Being someone who believes that the concept of sense 8 is possible, I wish I was a part of such a group. Life gets lonely for all of us, and watching this series made me feel alive again.
Without getting too personal, after losing my husband almost 2 years ago after 26 years and watching my mother's mind, who was once an incredible psychic, degenerate and having to put her in a nursing home last year, I don't know how I survived it all besides dealing with Covid19. And then one day I was talking with a friend who asked me if I had seen Sense 8. Knowing what a science fiction nerd that I am, she could not believe I had never seen this until now. I guess it came into my life at the right time. I found it extremely inspirational. I hope you do as well. It is so exciting, stimulating, intellectually challenging and spiritual.
