Surprisingly fantastic. I am a huge marvel dork for over 40 years and I never liked this comic book too much. I loved the idea of it and I loved the characters but after a few pages I was always like, HUH? What are they doing? Why are they doing? Do I care? Nope. But see this show is really great - the fact that they're kids instead of adults gives you this great backstory as to who they are and the what and why and how. Maybe as a kid I didn't have the faculty upstairs to fully grasp what the book was truly about, who knows? Great casting as usual with all the Marvel stuff. The only character I wasn't crazy about was Mayhem but she really grew on me. Love her now. Oh yeah! the whole premise of D'Spayre being this sort of struggling Jazz musician who is laid low by migraines and then altered into whatever the heck he is now by the Roxxon accident is genius. I always felt instruments like brass or woodwinds tend to possess their musicians when they are played, especially violinists, their bodies contort with the notes played - music is our one universal language you don't have to learn to speak to fall in love with or enjoy but should you do so you find yourself a slave to it forever - this concept with D'Spayre's origin is brilliant. Well done.

I freaking love everything about this show. Probably the least Marvel show yet the closest to what the comics can be like. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect the Marvel of my childhood to be what it is today. I read those books like the bible - giggle all you want, the stories I used to read back then are the same ones we all wait in line to see on the big screen, except they were better than most of the films* except back then I waited every month for the latest Chris Claremont written, John Byrne penciled and Terry Austin Inked Uncanny X-Men, presently being butchered by Fox (whom in my humble opinion deserve the failure for what they've done to my X-Men). The stories which poor Claremont clearly doesn't own the rights to were so good that it should and could be the main title everyone goes bananas about instead of the Avengers which is everything the X-Men should be. Fox's X-Men is what Family Guy is to the Simpsons - dumber jokes for dumber people with the jokes lined up in a row each one dumber than the next delivered by a talking baby that is a total rip off of Lost In Space's Dr Smith. Fox's X-Men are not Marvel versions, they're just 'based' on the comics but so hell bent on getting it out there and making money I'm forced to cringe at the idea of Sansa Stark as Jean Grey let alone Dark Phoenix with practically no Scott Summers back story so far, and now we're actually forced to endure a timeline with Captain Marvel where Rogue doesn't exist. So annoying. Don't even get me started on Miss Mousey Frumpy mediocre actress of the decade 2019 as Mystique of all people who in my humble opinion only happens to be one of the greatest super villains of all time yet instead of starting the brotherhood of Evil Mutants she's somehow sort of having a faux love affair with Charles who feeds her like the poor kid in those dumb Xmas movies. Only Jackman's Wolverine is still fun to watch but you can tell he's been forced to go so far off the rails at this point and I'm sure he'd rather stab himself with his claws then play that character again. The guy who plays quicksilver (who is the Scarlett Witch's brother btw) is great. the Gifted on the other hand is so brilliantly bad that it's really good and an absolute joy to watch. If the X-Men aren't allowed to be anything but stupid then the Gifted is amazing. I love the Stepford Cuckoos, Thunderbird brilliant Blink brilliant even the Strucker family is endearing and what can I say about the girl that plays Polaris? That kid has a future in show biz that's for sure. Only thing I would change is whoever is in charge of wardrobe needs to sashay away because the obsession with 90's boy bands was NEVER cool and Polaris doesn't look Punk why are you ruining such a naturally good looking cast? IT'S JUST SO MUCH FUN! LEGION is the only show that I never have any idea what's going on or why and can't wait for it's return I absolutely love it. the cast is brilliant the stories are brilliant the characters brilliant. The diving into Madness but finding out you can literally alter reality is brilliant. Runaways Season 2 gets an A minus. Disney how DARE you take away the Netflix shows when they're just so good. Even Iron Fist. * with the exception of GOTG

I think Neil Gaiman is one of the greatest storytellers of our time. American Gods is absolutely brilliant in it's handling of ancient norse lore and Gaiman really knows how to mix it up with our current religions and asking, what if they were real? What would they be doing now? He did a great story once called Brief Lives which I still reread to this day and in one of the stories you find out what happens to say... the God of Travel when nobody worships him anymore. What does he do? A god would obviously need to be worshipped in some way, so he opens a travel agency. Brilliant. Today's new gods would absolutely be Entertainment and the internet and stuff like that. I think he's brilliant without trying to dismantle anyone's precious fairytale nonsense and instead he celebrates them all and hopefully forces people to acknowledge other people's religions as legitimate which would be refreshing to say the least. Everyone thinks theirs is the right religion and the other's is false. Me personally? I think everyone is nuts and I hope Gaiman's right. I hope I'm wrong and they all exist.
