The Rock's performance and stage presence were great, but overall, this is a super cliche and predictable kids movie (very 90's). For example, there's a child character that uses a skateboard as a zip line — that's all you need to know about this movie. They also tried shoe-horning in political commentary about occupying and controlling foreign territories and people, which is a great idea, but it was poorly executed and felt really forced.
I also didn't realize going into it, that Black Adam is an extension of the Shazam storyline — again, a kids's franchise (ages 5-10). I do think it is great for kids of color to have another super hero to look up to and dress up as for Halloween.
Save your money, and go see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Marvel storytelling is way ahead of DC (with the exception of The Batman and Joker) — darker, more realistic, better writing.
