Cried my eyes out. If there is Go kyung pyo on screen , you know you're about to cry.. I'm not really sure if I still had that Reply string attached to my heart or something else but Shin Yul aka Yoo Jin Oh's character was one major force that kept me engaged. I'd like to also say it out loud that *THE LEADS ARE IMMENSELY BORING* !! The male lead was still bearable at times but everything kinda felt off with the fl, I couln't really sense any connection of hers with either HSJ or YJO.. At times, the leads are shown to be very ungrateful towards GKP's character (idk if this was the director's stunt to overshadow him or not but it put atleast me wondering many a times) ! The shaman lady as well as her daughter Bang Jin were really good at portraying the right emotions.. The 1930's Japan Occupied SK is very well shown however (again) , the leads didn't quite much worked out fine. Something was definitely missing because the show while it was still running felt really lonely if you know what I mean, there wasn't much warmth and depth even where it was seriously required. However I'm all for go kyung pyo's portrayal and acting skills,, the man never disappoints...Oh also there's a stalker and his sister who both get some footage but to the show, this little angle was rather non beneficial, didn't give it any go (except the fact that HSJ got a crucial chunk of his past life's memory reminded) ... Tae min (the villain) was also very annoying and unconvincing.. Nevertheless, you must watch it since the storyline is pretty unique in itself and the historical take backs are accurate well enough, the music and OSTs are on spot and always present whenever needed throughout. The plot twists are heart wrenching , needless to say however that it the drama was overly stretched with unnecessary characters and scenes that didn't either give any mileage to the show or kept viewers engaged... And lastly, LOVE YOU GO KYUNG PYO <3

Going to be very honest with this one. The first 9 episodes do not have much happening, you will find yourself skipping scenes and even doubt whether you should continue. Straight up truth, the acting by both the leads in scenes that involve only them was very bland and unconvincing. The growth of their love angle was almost meaningless and direction lacking. The fl hates him to death because of a misunderstanding ( that by the way *SPOILER ALERT* gets sorted out only in the second last episode) but starts growing towards him right after he kisses her (just to check if his feelings are genuine) // You'll have no idea how can these two potentially fall in love. Much of the push that this story gets is in the flashbacks because there is really nothing happening in the present of these characters, everything is in the past. it's more like you're watching present through the eyes of the past. It gets worse when the ml repeatedly fails at proving his point whenever he's shown to be in the wrong by other characters (when a question is asked of the ml or an allegation is made, the show *yes you got it right* takes you to the past) // The supporting characters aren't much fun either, fl's friends are almost non-existent except for the scenes the production needed for a little useless gossip over soju. The ml has father issues and in the end it's ultimately futile and the father is shown to be dead way too back in time. Some scenes with the female lead are so tormenting that even you'll feel bad for her, it gets real demeaning for her especially the first few episodes. Some cast members are right away the most pathetic you'll ever come across. specifically inhyung and jaejoon. There's hardly any character development and you time after again will be left back at square one. This drama lacked lead chemistry in a huge way and though it is true for many kdramas however those dramas atleast do a good job with their supporting cast. Unfortunately not this one. the only few things about this drama that stood out for me were the last three episodes. Everything happens in those 3 hours and you're missing nothing if you totally skip the former part of the drama. (that is annoying to say in itself) // If I talk about the acting bits, I think the CEO of ml's company and the manager of the ml both did a pretty great job. Even the chaebol guy was pretty good at what he was asked of. The drama does a really good job at letting the viewers know about the struggles of a south korean idol (even his/her days and troubles as a rookie) and all the politics involved in this industry.
