I have watched Forrest gump more than 20 times. It is my "comfort movie", something that I watch in bits and pieces again and again. Its storytelling and cinematography are masterpieces by themselves. Now, Laal singh chadda, sadly is a mega project gone wrong. The movie underestimates the sensibilities of an average moviegoer, by feeding them repackaged story with mushy songs. It simply doesn't work. The worst part of the movie is aamir khan's " cartoonish" portrayal of a character originally meant to be a simpleton. Its almost like aamir khan has forgotten how to act. It will definitely spawn a lot of spoofs. Kareena does what kareena does in every movie. She doesn't become the character, she shows her face, bides her time and leaves. Her "no strings attached " performance is a testimony to her apathy towards movie lovers. The character of rupa was so weak, that I can't imagine anyone doing any justice to the role. The songs are like a whiff of perfume, they sound good while they last, but you wont remember the words after you come out of the theatre. Nagachaitanya does well in his role, probably the only part of the movie that can be watched without feeling embarrased. All in all, this movie is a total waste of time. An already poorly made movie that fares even worse when it tries to compare itself to Forrest gump.
