Had some good ideas, all of them poorly executed. Awful dialogue and pacing, zero pay off in the finale, egregious plot holes, lackluster action and plot armour so power it warps space time.

Its ok, interesting concept but not explored well and seems wasted. Well acted poorly written.

2.5 While the actors are doing a good job with the material that they've been given, what they've been given isn't much. Poor world building, boring cliché filler and no commitment to ideas. Plot points move past at break neck speeds and are given no time. Insurection nope, the Covenant has arrived no forget that, Spartan mortality discussion, forget that UNSC infighting or is it just family drama, nevermind Johns backstory contradicting a previous episode, pause for a tea party with a side of repeated exposition and a chat with an all-knowing crazy man because of course, just pad the runtime with some strutting Spartans and you're done. At this pace we'll be on the halo by ep 4 and beaten the flood by ep 6. The effects are spotty and look like they are from a fan production in places and the action scenes have little to no internal consistency.

Started out ok and moved into a fun show that didn't take itself too seriously. The last third of the season really lets it down though. It moves the focus away from the main characters and goes for cheap and cliched drama. It tries to be its own thing while at the same time lifting scenes from the anime while missing the intent and original soul of those moments. The actors do an admirable job but they are clearly working against the writing/directing at times. Looks fantastic though.
