Love island does space! Such a shame that something so brilliantly written and cleverly thought out has been reduced down to what this show is! Like most people I really disliked Oggie's character because of her unnecessarily entitled and rude personality. Something that is in direct contradiction to the book who is actually a very humble and understanding and almost regular Chinese man. The Main enemy's have had there names changed once again unnecessarily from the Trisolarians to the Zanti which is laughable because it makes no sense with regards to the story's main basis which is that they come from a planets that is caught between 3 suns.....hence Trisolarians and not Zanti. Their are some believable characters in the show however it's literally only 3 characters who give convincing performances The General, the Police officer and the Chinese physicist who started it all in the 60s. Aside from that you have a bunch of 20 something's all with there own antagonistic, rude and entitled personality traits. It really is frustrating to watch as we are all meant to get behind these people yet I felt after watching the show that I couldn't stand them. This Show is not aimed at anyone over the age of 30 so if you're older than 30 and would like to see something with characters you can at least associate with in a round about sort of way then seek out the Chinese version...I believe they have even included English voice overs now so no need for subtitles either and it's a million times better. My review on the the netflix adaption In all is that the effects were good, the storyline is a mish mash of all 3 books that doesn't include some of the most vital parts of the story, the musical score is what anyone can come to expect from any Netflix production, the main characters are just awful in general and utterly unlikeable, however their are some believable characters that don't play a main part in the show who saved this show from utter embarrassment. Honestly watch the Chinese version. It's sooo much better.
