This was a show where I anticipated every release each week. It was soul-wrenching, comedic, and beautiful. The cast was spectacular and the message of the show truly reached my heart. I like its differing approach from regular Korean dramas as it seemed more episodic which provided a variety of engaging stories to follow with our beloved characters keeping the show interesting. And it held all of us viewers on the edge of our seats as the plot revealed little bits here and there of the main storyline regarding each character's past. It is a must-watch for me and fights to progress mental health awareness. The hate surrounding this show is a literal example of individuals who want to dislike something because it calls out their personalities and behaviors hiding behind anonymity.
I am especially frustrasted with criticisms that involve Kim Hee Sun's age. She and Lee Soo Hyuk are approximately a decade apart and that caused a lot of individuals to dislike her because she appeared older and also because individuals are obsessed with Lee Soo Hyuk. When Goblin aired the main actor was also a decade older than the main actress yet no one batted an eye. The hypocrisy of netizens and the general audience is astounding to me.
Moving on from that, regarding my own criticisms: the show should have more episodes to properly wrap up the storyline. And although it is seemingly heart warming to help someone from killing themselves, it is not as easy as the show displays. I appreciate the idea of showing the potential suicides that their life will be better if they keep living, but it takes a lot longer to persuade people to step off the edge. However, it seems they do deal with that by keeping the "saved" potential suicides on the "Red Light" program to be infinitely monitored.
