I was a massive sopranos fan like most people, have watched the series over and over again from the first episode to the last I was very excited when I heard a movie was being made and could not wait for it to come out, the anticipation of this film was so high however upon watching this film I must say I was very let down. I believed the film was going to be more about Anthony soprano as a child coming up into the ranks how he became involved in his family‘s business and what made him the person he was, however the family aspect of Tony soprano was very under played and in the background. Michael Gandolfini although having very small scenes and short screen time does an amazing job playing his father as a young man I just really wish David Chase would have centered more on his family and himself. Again as a huge sopranos fan I was very let down by this film It did not have the same unique and amazing storyline that the series had, it almost felt other than the names like a cheap mobster film set in the 60s and 70s that was not written very well, it lags it’s boring and even when some thing happens it’s weak. The two standouts in this film was young Anthony soprano who did an amazing job and I don’t know the actresses name who played Tony sopranos mother but she nailed it!! not only did she have a similar look of the young Tony soprano‘s mom she sounded and acted exactly like her, she was amazing. At the end of the day this film failed because David Chase did not do his original brilliance of the series any justice, in this film. I would’ve preferred that this film was never made and we were left with the memories of the original show.
