This film had so much potential. But it drowns in wooden performances and far too much explication. Lack of chemistry particularly dogs the two leads Theron & Kiki Lanye. The worst offender is the director. So much in this film is explained rather than shown. So the set pieces start to be the only energy in the film. With nothing connecting them in way of consistent tone, direction, or momentum, what little joy dies.
