Absolutely confused about all of the good reviews. I couldn’t watch even five minutes of this. I’m generally someone who loves artistic movies and great cinematography but this one just made me uncomfortable and disoriented when I watched it

This is a comfort watch and nothing else. The movie is very sloppy and the dialogue is very ordinary. It’s great to put on though when you don’t want to think one bit and you don’t have any Mental Energy to really really follow the plot

Very dull movie. I didn’t love the dialogue, it was pretty corny and the characters weren’t believable. The main lady was not likable and I did not understand his clamoring for her. He wasn’t likable nor clever nor funny.. they both seemed too self important.

The ones who called this boring and overdone simply didn’t pick up on or understand the level of difficulty that comes with trying to break free from what’s expected of you by close minded people and a toxic parental figure. If you’ve never experienced that, then great but the ones who have experienced it can truly appreciate how well this toxic family dynamic was displayed.

I’m only 30 minutes in. The movie is terrible though that should’ve been obvious from the generic rom com music. Both actors are phoning it in. I’d skip this one!

Don’t believe the negative ratings about this show. It is brilliantly and painfully realistic in its writing. The only reviewers I saw leaving negative reviews were ones who weren’t capable of sitting down and enjoying a show that isn’t full of a bunch of dramatic bits or loud booms. That or they cannot empathize or relate to the characters and that is fine, but the error is on their end debate this show is excellent and heart wrenching if you can invest the time and patience to truly understand the characters and the kind of things they have been through.

It was interesting until about 20 minutes before the film ended. The end was flat and rushed and made the whole movie seem like a waste of time to watch

Terrible! I love Adam Sandler but this was terrible. I couldn’t stand the main daughter. Spoiled and completely self absorbed, and no I wasn’t like that as a young girl. Cant feel sympathy for such unlikable characters!

I expected to be enthralled by this movie given all its stellar reviews but boy was I misled! It wasn’t terrible but it certainly wasn’t a profound or unique movie. All of the characters were pretty blah, maybe with the exception of their beach house neighbor and the part played by Sam Rockwell. Overall I think the movie was kind of bland and had no real heart, Plus it was hard for me to buy Steve Carrell as the jerk. I wouldn’t watch it again and I’d say If someone never gets to see this movie there will have been no great loss.

I’m not sure why so many call this brilliant. It seemed like a waste of time and you don’t get closure of any sort. It was hard for me to feel bad for the family and the writing just didn’t make them sympathetic enough, if anything I found the kids incredibly annoying. Someone posted and said she should’ve swallowed her pride and stayed with her mom but if you realize what the mom was accusing her of I agree with her not staying there or letting her children stay there. I did feel there were other options and the movie just seemed bland with poor writing.
