I thought the actors, per usual Brits, were great. The writing, however, required some emotional gymnastics--too many twists, reversals of vindictive fortune--sometimes three in one scene. It became ridiculous. The 'original sin" was completely lost by turning Dr. Foster into an unremitting, obsessive, vindictive lunatic. She would never last as a physician, at least not in the states.
