American Gods, in a nutshell is about Gods being brought to America by the migrants who believed in them. As belief over time becomes less and less, the Old Gods lose their power and are forced to live as ordinary people, struggling to survive and make a living. New Gods appear (technology and media etc) to replace the old ones but in the end, as America evolves, does anything last forever? This book is fantastically brilliant. From the first page you are taken on a journey that includes action, mystery, mythology, mysticism, surrealism, romance together with the life lessons and harsh truths that those that have been around for a bit will recognise. This Fantasy (if it really is) is fantastically written by Neil Gaiman and makes you think and question if this low attention and throw away mindset of a world in which we now live in is better than the past. Enthralling, totally engrossing, humorous, weird, at times disturbing but amazing none-the-less.
