The setting is just beautiful. But I didn't quite see the chemistry between the protagnists and the script could have been better. I found the scenes between Hemsworth and the girlfriend hard to watch because the acting felt wooden between them. I love Laura Dern but this was not it. I know that representation of romances between older women and younger men are being explored right now but it's got to feel believable and have chemistry. Also I do think the ending was all wrong for the story they were trying to tell.

I really enjoyed this movie. It's a beautifully presented animation about a childs struggle with loss and grief and change. I found the plot line about her feelings toward the fathers new relationship understandable and the length she went to venture out into space to fond the myth ( her mother) very touching. The whole time in space is more a representation of her imagination saying what if. I am surprised how critical people are about this. My daughter and I really enjoyed this. Extra points to the rabbit who is soooo cute!

I really anticipated this movie but left the theatre feeling a little empty and frustrated. The performance, photography and acting are really the pillars that holds up the success of this movie. I found the scenes to be choppy that made you lose track. I think the directors could have let us have a little more time with the characters in certain periods of their lives. The biggest issue I had was with the music. It was overused across the scenes, which often prevented the audience from hearing certain dialogue and it made the viewing exhausting to be frank.
