OKAY SO this show completely consumed me for the week that I spent watching it. I can't remember the last time I was this obsessed with a show and its cast. It was to the point where I couldn't even sleep it took over my mind so completely. It's not perfect, but the pros far outweigh the cons in my opinion. Note that I never saw any of the other versions and watched this entirely on Netflix. CONS - Let's start with the things that bothered me. Honestly, the first two episodes did not leave the greatest first impression. I found the situations and actions of the characters too unrealistic, bizarre, or contrived, even for a television drama. It was only after episode 3 that I got really into it when I started to understand the characters better. I still feel that a lot of the things that happened throughout the show were ridiculous and the characters were sooooo frustrating at times with their behaviour. The plot is full of cliches and at times it felt like I was watching a fanfiction adapted into television lol but I mean this in a good way as well, because let's be real they showed us what we wanted to see even if it was cheesy as hell. Also, the ending two episodes were bad lol. PROS - With all that being said, this show was soooooo beautiful and romantic and the dedication and payoff in character development over 49 episodes was incredibly wonderful to watch. The cinematography was stunning and the male fashion was insane, it was like a feast for the eyes every episode. The entire cast did an amazing job but Dylan Wang was by far the best part of the series and a scene stealer in every shot he was in. I feel like his acting doesn't get enough credit because he's so good looking, but that boy gave a fantastic performance that was 100% convincing and you just become so invested in his character. Like, Daoming Si cries exactly twice in the show and those were the only times I LOST it myself as well. Aside from the beauty and romance of the story, it was also surprisingly funny too. The dialogue and banter between Si and Shencai is sooo cute, and Lei was lowkey a chaotic comedian the entire time. I genuinely laughed out loud because of Lei several times. In short, this show was soooo sooooo good and a must watch. You will not regret it. I wish I could watch it for the first time all over again already :')
