I binged season 4 last evening while keeping my eye on the Giants game. I love Thornton cuz he’s my kind of cunning bar fly. The dark neon tone was intriguing. But most especially because he captured my San Francisco in its elegant and mysterious finest. The scenes reminded me of Franco’s grittier “The Deuce.” The plot was fairly predictable but I didn’t care. His female counterparts are worthy and I enjoy their contribution. The final scene caught me up, as he exited Chinatown Thornton inserted Kerouac reciting his monumental poem about San Francisco, “October in the Railroad Earth!” That was worth every minute!
