This movie was alright, as someone who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community I felt it might of been a bit stereotypical. (not saying there arent people that act like this theres nothing wrong with acting this way or matching stereotypes) the community is just way more diverse and someone who is a certain identity doesn't have to look any way other than just being themselves. There wasn't a lot of action in terms of killing or horror focused mainly on the characters personal lives. There were a few sex scenes and although I do feel like they showed a bit too much for a slasher I didn't really have a problem with it. (alot of people that are complaining saying its porn are probably just mad because it was mostly same sex and they didnt like that.) Especially considering it didnt show any genitalia just butts and people with shirts off lol. It also feel a bit rushed but whatever. Im glad hollywood is trying to spread diversity and equality but making a movie made by people that probably arent a part of the community does not help because theyre not as educated. Also conversion theapy is pure evil, it should not exist and the people who support it or work there etc are disgusting and awful. I have not been myself and I do believe there is torture physcially and mentally but I feel the writers didn't really know about that either and they just assumed because it just feels not 100% accurate, that being said I have not been so Im not sure. Im all for making movies based around LGBTQ+ community its great but I feel making a movie about conversion therapy is triggering to members who have been to camp, I think spreading awareness about this topic is extremely important but it does seem their target audience is members of the community where I feel it should be people that arent well educated on the topic. Also I feel like slasher and conversion therapy do not belong together even though conversion therapy is an absolutely horrific, traumatizing thing to go through I just feel like making it a slasher takes away from how awful conversion therapy is by keeping focus on how bad the killer is due to everything else makes people overlook it. The kids were good actors I feel like theyre getting a lot of hate (probably because theyre gay lol) but in all seriousness they did good. In conclusion, good intentons, meh execution.
