I have to say, I’m at a bit of a loss when it comes to all the bad reviews of this remake. It definitely came with a sharper edge than the original story, but all in all, I would say it was a necessary edge to give the story some much needed depth. I’m not sure why anyone thought the original was intended for children, because it was not. It was written in Victorian times, and the wealthy embracing charity at Christmas time was all the rage. It was simply a story with a lesson. I loved the original movie, but I think this version is now my favorite.
