the protagonist's background is giving expensive cultural appropriation and self-sabotage. the various relationships and friendships are giving wattpad fanfiction. i can understand the appeal this movie had among millennial divorcée white women in my early teens... but i think that general fondness is rooted in all the wrong reasons. this massive hype furthers my disappointment. if you ever feel compelled to jump country to country in pursuit of self-discovery, you're inherently running away from your problems. get an italian cookbook or something. in my opinion, the main character was incredibly unlikeable, despite her charitable actions, and it was challenging to exhert sympathy for her situation.
