Kevin Abarquez

It starts off alluding to a deeper story for the main character but fails to establish any realistic motivations for the rest of the plot. Jake Gyllenhal tries his best but the script fails to make him more than a one dimensional protagonist. The tone of the movie is all over the place as it frequently includes Marvelesque one liner humor into a gang drama/action movie.

Lightyear showcases a fun story with thrilling and emotional moments throughout it's runtime. Though having it's origins in Toy Story, Lightyear is a strong movie in it's own right.
