Everyone cites Peter Sellers multi-faceted character portrayals as the standout performances in this satirical masterpiece - and they were great - but to my mind Sterling Hayden and Slim Pickens both eclipse him with their career best performances as the deranged station commander (Hayden) and flight leader (Pickens) two of the best casting inspired achievements in cinema history. Actually all the supporting players punched above their weight which is why this film is an all time classic.
