An amazing movie about the “forgotten class” of people, poor white country people. Being poor is tough; white, black, red, brown, yellow, or any color. Poor means few opportunities. Country means no guidance. No one who has a clue of what is even possible. Living in abuse and neglect kills self esteem. My aunt saved my life by showing unconditional love. So many people helped me so many ways, one at a time; just when I needed it. My mother (parents divorced when I was 6 years old) my Father (who never helped anyone), minimal wage summer jobs, work study, minimal government grants the last two years, research scholarship, many “lucky breaks”, many other people. All directed by God I later found out. I so identified with this movie. Many, many people struggle. Occasionally some one makes it. Many don’t. Opportunity and support is everything; no matter what color or gender you are. I wish politicians and race hustlers would stop politicizing race/gender. ALL PEOPLE NEED HELP! Let’s look at people, not intersectionality.
BTW, Glenn Close is an amazing actress.
