Firstly, I don't really agree that it was a "Training Day" ripoff. Denzel Washington was a self hating narcissistic terrorist, basically. This is depicted from the perspective of three police officers living distinctively different lives. Caucasian, Italian and Black cultures sort of collide to reveal how each characters' ethnicity and personality affect their overall decision making. At it's core, the movie is about desperate people committing often time heinous actions and ultimately trying to justify them. Racism, police corruption/brutality, economics and the proliferation of guns and drugs make for a compelling storyline.
