Okay, I have quite an opinion about this show. The show has potential honestly, with a few changes of course. The first episode was really disappointing when it came to Ginny and Marcus doing it. There was no emotion, they had zero history and it was just completely unrealistic. Georgia has an amazing backstory and I really loved the tension between her and Joe the whole show. Then Ginny started to really piss me off... She refers to her mum as Georgia and not mum, which is just so disrespectful. Then she claims her mum doesn't know her and that she's nothing like her mum, just then to say that she is her mum in episode ten. As suggested, Ginny is a feminist and very passionate when talking about being a woman and POC, then she compares her mum to Taylor Swift by saying she goes through just as many men like her. The joke is so misogynistic and old, also for Ginny to make such a statement as a feminist just doesn't make sense. Also, I think we can all agree that Ginny's use of sarcasm is too much. Enough about Ginny, Let's talk about the others. Maxine has to be the best character, she has such a vibrant personality and brings me JOY. I also liked that they included some LGBTQ+ relationships in the show, also with Nick. The transitions into Georgia's flashbacks were amazing 10/10. The whole drama with Gabriel/Jesse is thrilling and really adds mystery to the show. Less than halfway through the show, I hated Ginny's character, I was really only watching for Georgia and Ginny's friends. Also, I'm not sure if this is the case, but if the writers are trying to make Ginny relatable, they didn't. Netflix usually has a few trigger warnings in the top left corner but nothing about self-harm or abuse (sexual and physical). This is so disappointing and to think that there are so many kids who watched that and have no idea what they just saw or was traumatised because they may be going through it. Also, I feel like the show is encouraging underage drinking and sex. When Georgia made Ginny go on birth control and Ginny got angry because she didn't want it, I lost it. I mean how responsible for Georgia to notice that her daughter may be having sex soon and taking care of it, paying money which is limited for them, to protect her daughter? How could you be mad at your mum for doing that? I have two alternatives; next season focus on Georgia or Abbey, I'm really interested in how Abbey is going to cope with her friendship situation. Or we can just please call the show Maxine and Georgia. lol ok that's just me. anyway, if anyone thinks otherwise or has something to add, email me (not in a creepy way but like I'm lonely lol)
