Beth Mills

A very slow first episode, probably had to be, setting the scene. However, I found myself drawn into it the more I watched. It's different from the films, certainly the latter ones, I liked it concentrated on the characters. The Harfoots are delightful, especially Nori and Poppy. The elves aren't as pretty as in the films - except for Galadriel, but even then, there is a darkness to her. The dwarves are very believable, the Orcs suitably horrible and Their Father, understated creepiness and evil. The special effects are great, very beautiful and scary, depending on the scene. As you can tell, I'm hooked!
