I have watched 3 times on catch up. Superb . Some might say its slow but the fact the plot is very complex is right up my street .All the actors are superb .One of the best crime dramas I have seen .Wish they could come up with a second series. Fact it was based on a non fiction book rather than a novel makes this production all the more impressive .Norton is totally believable in the lead although the nods to Michael Corleone are obvious.

I read it after seeing the film. It’s a bit over rated but very well written. The theme seems to be that history is only someone’s version of history and we recollect and remember what we want to remember. There were a few loose ends in my view. We don’t learn how badly Adrian took Tony’s letter and if this was material to his suicide. Is this the reason Veronica is so annnoyed with him? How did Adrian end up fathering a child with the mother, an affair or a one night stand. I did resonate with Tony . Someone who has let life happen to him and is perhaps looking back and wishing they hadn’t settled for a quiet life. Overall an enjoyable short read ( only 150pages) and if you haven’t seen the film it’s very good , Jim Broadbent is superb as usual.

Dont be put off by the assisted dying storyline. This is brilliant . Its moving particularly in the early episodes but then turns into a twisting storyline. All the actors are great but Lyndsey Duncan is superb as Phil. It also features a cast in their 70s and at the heart is a love story of love lost between Phil and Ken, I have not enjoyed a drama as much in ages , well done everyone . Filmed in Bristol , Clevedon and around Somerset .I think the scene between Ken and his son may have been Westonbirt?

I know this received rave reviews but typical Curtis fayre only inferior to his other films. Silly , slight and predictable. The only interesting scene is where he meets Lennon. This struck me quite deeply .In a parallel universe where there was no Beatles maybe John would still be here and he certainly wouldnt have met a violent end at 40. In this parallel universe where maybe the Beatles didnt get a recording contract how did John Paul and George and Ringo,s lives pan out? Would they still be friends and working together ? Hard to imagine they would not have been professional musicians.

I quite enjoyed it but the star is Hampstead itself with its charming cobbled streets and steps and the beautiful heath. Harmless innocuous escapism, if you like Richard Curtis movies you will like it but really its an incredibly light romcom. The cottage at the end is one of the ones on the Cliveden estate on the Thames . Agree with some of the reviews that it portrays an incredibly idyllic view of London with nothing remotely grimy. Characters are all stereotypes. Greedy developers , snobbish neighbours , lechy middle aged professionals.
