I only watched the movie, because of how much I loved the book. The movie, however, didn't live up to my expectations. It had so much potential to have a monumental impact. Sadly, they let out crucial events in the storyline. That could make or break the film. Which in this case, broke it. The movie failed to mention the friendship bracelet, Melinda's self-harm, how important the poster was, and did not show when Andy broke her beloved self-made doll. It also never showed when Mr.Freeman took Melinda home, and various thoughts of importance by Melinda. I was extremely disappointed by the film in comparison to the book. In my opinion, the movie did Laurie Anderson's exquisite, impactful writing an awful injustice.
