If you go into this movie completely blind, expecting a typical movie experience, you absolutely will run screaming from the theater. it's almost a prerequisite that you know at least a little bit about the stage show before diving into the crazy world of this movie. there is no plot in the stage show. characters are introduced in song and then never once expounded on in the show. the lyrics of the songs are 90% gibberish, the character names are bizarre, and logic has no place there. this movie follows the show's blueprint almost too well, and therefor comes off as wildly off-putting if you don't know to shut your brain off and allow it to be an experience. I absolutely adore this movie specifically because it's so damn weird. I love the musical for the same reason. if you allow yourself to accept the weirdness, you will have a ton of fun.
