Review Satan Life’s Sentence CD1987
I like this album. It has a lot of interesting elements especially where the song writing is concerned. I like a lot of singer Brian Ross’s vocal stylings. His vocals are quite unique. If you liked 1983’s Court in the Act Satan’s speed metal debut, then you’re sure to like 1987’s Life Sentence. Even though it probably doesn’t hold up to the debut. The song writing is interesting. I also like a lot of drummer Ian Mac Cormack’s drum fills. I don’t know if he played on this album. But the drum sounds on this one certainly sound like his. If you like bands of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal Movement particularly bands like Blitzkrieg, Battleaxe, etc. you should check this one out. For a 1987 speed metal release Life Sentence by Satan is unique. While most bands of this period such as Def Leppard say were turning out adult friendly contemporary pop metal Satan also known as Blind Fury and Parriah, were churning out fast, heavy tempo, speed metal with the emphasis on the heavy. In short if you like bands like Iron Maiden, Dimond Head, Motorhead, and Judas Priest, bands with twin guitars and a lot of crunchy melody this one is for you. I give it four out of five stars I can’t recommend this one enough. Check out any of Satan’s other albums ,and find out what they’re doing these days. Or check out any related artists to Satan you won’t regret it. Bon Wilhelm
