Best book I’ve read in the last 20 years. As an addiction psychiatrist, it does a wonderful job of portraying the agony and tragedy of the opioid epidemic and the relationship between addiction and attachment wounds of childhood. Demon has such a rich inner life and is brilliant at reading all the incompetent and disappointing adults that surround him. It’s his unfailing sense of humor and resilience that makes the reader fall in love with this boy forever.
