i totally loved the read and so enjoyed that the young girl loved her adoptive mother knowing she had been deceived. children readily adapt to their carer mother or whatever? this mum was damaged/ traumatised by her circumstances so unable to cope with the loss of her own baby. while not forgivable still understandable. Perhaps she atoned for her traumatic behaviour through saving the child that the father pushed towards the river and to her just another abusive man. also enjoyed Lola’s life savingl passion and talent for art. all in all Trent Dalton wrote a good book on the distressing circumstance of the homeless. I disagreed with the Guardian writers opinion as portraying the book as not as good as the first two books, didnt find it depicting the homeless as anything but what they are, homeless. there are all different manners in which the homeless can be depicted.
