While it could come off as a form slapstick comedy, Year One is a very clever and intelligent laugher. Jack Black (Zed) and Michael Cera (Oh) exchange hilarious dialog in a dichotomy-filled war between primitive and modern day sensibilities

Like every other rags to riches plots, Gold is a formula case study in luck and discovery, lightning speed success, arrogance driven hubris, and the inevitable crash and betrayal. That aside, it’s a watchable film, and Matthew McCougnahey’s performance buoys the film capably.
