Loved this heartfelt novel set in Tasmania. Beautifully written. In my life time I have seen the attitudes change dramatically regarding teenage unmarried pregnant girls. It was so sad even in the 1970’s that they were treated like a disgrace and embarrassment. Babies were adopted, often the young mother told they had died. This story is well written with a blending of recent times through the eyes of a journalist. Looking forward to more novels from this author.

As a quilter and dressmaker for many years I enjoyed this novel very much. It was a heartwarming story, there were some amusing and thought provoking moments.

A captivating book one to remember. On one hand I couldn’t put it down but I didn’t want it to finish on the other. Insightful into the circumstances of young people in WW2, the influences that drew them into their actions and the life long results. Beautifully written. I look forward to more novels from Marius Gabriel.
