Quite dark in its subject matter and the gloomy landscapes at to the feeling of desperation as the parents come to terms with the loss of their little girl. Not as bad as some reviews would suggest, I actually thought it was good viewing. Ryan Reynolds is one of my favourite actors and he carries it off well. Considering some recent real life child kidnap cases, the plot isn’t as far fetched or unbelievable as we may think. Worth a look.

My first memory of Sparks was watching Top Of The Pops and seeing This Town, with Ron’s fixed look and toothbrush moustache. At the age of 7, I was mesmerised by the performance. My musical tastes however developed more mainstream and they disappeared off my radar. Seeing this documentary appear on Netflix, some 48 years later, I just had to see it and I’m glad I did. I had no idea of how talented Russ and Ron are and how prolific their songwriting has been. It was a joy to watch. Some say it’s a little too long, however they’ve done so much you couldn’t crop it without leaving out something pertinent to their career arc. Edgar Wright has done a fantastic job. I love Sparks and long may they continue to shine!

The Zac Snyder version of Justice League is a world apart from the cinematic release. The Snyder version is like an adult cut of a child’s film. After having watched the cinematic version only days before, this new cut towers above it. There are complete stories for Flash and Cyborg. There is a period of mourning for Lois. You can FEEL the loss and grief as an undertone throughout the first half of the movie. Steppenwolf is a more horrific looking entity sand even he has his own story as why he’s chosen to come to Earth. We also get to meet his “boss” Darkseid. The action is a lot more violent and bloody in places. There are extended fight scenes for WW at the beginning and included in the final battle. Gone are the family living in the affected battle zone. Gone are the Batman apocalyptic visions near the start. Included are new cards which announce each section of the film. There is so much that is new to this film, that I genuinely can’t lost them all. Yes the film is four hours long, but this feels like a fully working storyline. The characters have been given feelings and a few of the “what just happened there?” moments from the first version are fully explained. Give it a go, personally it moved me in places. It’s brilliant.

Terrifier is a bit of an oddity - the look and feel of the film seem a little dated and I’m struggling to explain why. This isn’t a criticism and I think it adds to the genuine atmosphere of the whole thing. I love horror films and I found this genuinely creepy and a little disturbing. Art the Clown is as creepy as killers get - no motive or remorse, just straight up brutality and cruelty. Gore is really old school - chopping people up, buckets of blood etc. There are lots of plot holes as some have already said - stab or knock Art out and run - just stomp his head in and make sure it’s done right!! But no, the victim limps off to be pursued again. Having said that, true to life solutions would make for a very short and boring film! Overall if you want something a little creepy, disturbing and ultra violent then watch this. It’s a solid 6/10 and well worth a watch.
