The film has its own set of flaws but isn’t bad enough for the kind of ratings it has received. A large number of low ratings are by the boycott group who are pulling the film down based on political reason rather than anything cinematic. And majority of these folks reviewing haven’t seen the film in first place.
The film can be criticised for being slow and slightly less on typical masala content but is an honest attempt to adapt Forrest Gump into an Indian Setup. Just like the original it’s a narration of the life of the main protagonist across a series of important events in Indian history from emergency to the 1984 Sikh Rights to the Kargil war. The film scores high on acting and direction but could have been better edited to keep it short by about 20-25 minutes. Worth a watch despite all the negativities surrounding it.
