First off, this movie feels like a Jurassic Park movie. That was really important to me, and the movie delivers. The tone of the movie is very much reminiscent of the first 3 films. It takes you back to the basics but with a slightly new premise, a new island, and lots of cool new dinosaurs. The animals seem like they’re actually animals, not just evil genetic monsters out to get you (which is what the last 2 films seemed to portray imo). The movie isn’t perfect, but definitely comparable to the first Jurassic World! Let’s be honest, nothing is ever going to compare to the first Jurassic Park, sequels are rarely able to do that, but Rebirth kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was invested in the story the entire time. Much better than the last two Jurassic World films. There is definitely more direction and a definitive storyline - which is fairly plausible and very much enjoyable. Face it, we are talking about a world where dinosaurs freely walk the earth based off the events of JW 2, and the movie does its best to include/explain this. But you have to take some plot lines at face value to immerse yourself in a story like this! You certainly had to (to a certain extent) with the premise of the original movie and books! Therefore, I’m not trying to judge too hard here. It just felt nice to feel like a kid watching a Jurassic park movie in the theaters again, and this movie took me back to that nostalgia, not because of the Easter eggs or callbacks to certain scenes in previous movies, but because (like I said earlier) it actually FEELS like a Jurassic Park film. It’s clear that this is what the movie is trying to achieve. I also appreciated the dialogue between the characters. I really enjoyed Henry and Zora’s relationship, and the other characters were also endearing and funny. Overall an 8.5 / 10 for me. Definitely go watch this if you want to enjoy some cool dinosaurs! I certainly feel better about this franchise after having to endure the heartbreak of the previous 2 Jurassic World films!
