4/10: I’m not sure what movie others watched where they rated it high but this film was terrible. I have always followed the original true story of the Ammons family (2011) and saw the 2018 documentary Demon House that focused on the home in Gary Indiana, which has since been demolished. When I learned this film was based on the events depicting what happened to the Ammons family, I was curious to check it out.
From the start, the film is boring. A lot of pointless dialogue that is fueled by a broken family whose main focus is anger, resentment, addiction, and guilt. The actors were terrible with the only exception of Glenn Close. She was believable and delivered her character well, but the film as a whole isn’t good at all. For a film called The Deliverance, the only thing it delivered was a disaster.
